FAA Update: What You Need to Know Before You Fly

As you may have seen in the news, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has implemented a new mandate that began November 7, to temporarily reduce flight volumes at approximately 40 major U.S. airports. These reductions ranging from 4% to 10% are part of an effort to maintain safety and efficiency as the FAA addresses ongoing staffing and scheduling concerns among air traffic controllers.

Here’s what this means for travelers:

  • The changes primarily affect domestic flights and connections at large U.S. hubs.

  • International flights are not directly targeted, though connecting travelers could experience delays or schedule adjustments.

  • Airlines have already begun updating schedules in response to this directive.

At Dynamite Travel, my priority is to ensure you stay informed and supported. Here are a few tips to help keep your upcoming travels smooth and stress-free:

Travel Smart Tips:

  1. Arrive earlier than usual. With the new FAA adjustments, check-in and security lines may take longer. Aim to arrive at least 30–60 minutes earlier than the standard guidance of two hours for domestic and three hours for international departures.

  2. Confirm flight details regularly. Airlines are adjusting schedules, so check your booking and set up flight alerts within your airline’s app.

  3. Keep your contact details up to date. Make sure your airline has your correct phone number and email address for real-time updates.

  4. Allow extra buffer time for connections. Consider longer layovers or even overnight stays before major tours, cruises, or events.

  5. Consider travel protection. A comprehensive policy can help cover delays, missed connections, or cancellations caused by unexpected disruptions. If you would like to obtain pricing or to purchase travel protection please click HERE.

My team and I will continue to monitor this situation closely and provide updates as more information becomes available.

The skies may shift, but with the right preparation and support, your travels can remain effortless and enjoyable.

Safe travels,
