Planning a destination wedding becomes more complex when kosher dining is an important part of the celebration. Finding a beautiful resort with great wedding venues is one thing. Finding a property that can also accommodate the culinary and religious requirements of you, your families, and your guests requires a much closer look.
Fortunately, Jewish couples considering Cancun and the surrounding area have more options than they may realize.
The important thing to understand is that “kosher-friendly” does not mean the same thing at every resort. One property may have dedicated kosher kitchens and supervised wedding menus, another may offer a kosher dining package throughout the stay, while another allows couples to bring in specialized kosher catering for the entire wedding weekend.
Those differences become especially important when your guests will be together for several days. You are not simply planning one reception dinner. Depending on your wedding and level of observance, you may also need to consider daily meals, Shabbat dinner, welcome events, family gatherings, and other celebrations throughout the weekend.
For Jewish couples considering a destination wedding in Cancun, these are five properties worth exploring.
NIZUC Resort & Spa
NIZUC Resort & Spa stands out for couples looking for a luxury property that already has experience hosting kosher destination weddings.
Rather than simply accommodating a kosher meal upon request, NIZUC offers certified kosher wedding menus supervised by Rabbi Neve Shalom of Cancun and Executive Chef Sylvain Desbois. The resort works with kosher-certified suppliers and has dedicated kitchens where kosher food is prepared using separate cookware and utensils for meat, dairy, and parve. Cholov Yisroel dairy is also available.
The kosher experience can extend beyond the wedding reception. Guests can arrange kosher breakfast, lunch, and dinner during their stay, and Shabbat dinner can be ordered in advance. This makes NIZUC particularly interesting for couples whose families and guests will need kosher dining throughout the wedding weekend rather than only during private events.
From a wedding perspective, the property also offers considerable flexibility. Couples can choose among indoor and outdoor venues including gardens, terraces, private beach settings, a pier, lounges, and ballroom space. That makes it possible to create different environments for the events surrounding the wedding instead of hosting every gathering in a similar setting.
For couples who want sophisticated accommodations and wedding venues along with an established kosher culinary infrastructure, NIZUC offers one of the more comprehensive options in the Cancun area.
Casa Nizuc
Casa Nizuc brings a newer (opened in 2026) luxury option to Cancun, and its kosher dining program immediately makes it relevant for Jewish destination wedding groups.
The property offers a Gourmet Kosher Dining Experience that includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner each day, along with unlimited soft drinks throughout the stay. That daily availability is important because guests who keep kosher need dining options outside of scheduled wedding events.
For couples, this means the conversation can begin with an existing kosher dining program rather than first determining whether the property can provide kosher meals at all.
Casa Nizuc also offers a different atmosphere from some of Cancun’s larger resorts. Its more intimate setting may appeal to couples who want their guests to spend several days together in an environment that feels cohesive and elevated without the scale of a sprawling resort complex.
For a wedding group, I would take the conversation further and determine how the existing kosher program can support private events such as a welcome gathering, Shabbat dinner, reception, and farewell meal. Certification, rabbinical supervision, banquet menus, and wedding-event requirements should always be confirmed according to the couple’s specific level of observance.
The advantage is that kosher dining is already part of the property’s guest experience, providing a strong foundation from which to build the wedding weekend.
SLS Playa Mujeres
For couples looking for something contemporary and social, SLS Playa Mujeres offers another interesting approach through Liora, its dedicated kosher dining program.
Liora provides glatt kosher cuisine under Mehadrin certification and continuous rabbinical supervision. The program extends well beyond one restaurant meal, with kosher breakfast, lunch and dinner, in-room dining, poolside service, and Shabbat meals available to participating guests.
For a destination wedding group, that flexibility can make a significant difference. Guests who keep kosher can enjoy the resort without needing every meal to be arranged as a separate private event.
SLS also offers kosher banquet menus for groups and special events, which allows the culinary program to extend into the wedding itself. Depending on the couple’s plans, that could include receptions, seated dinners, and other private gatherings throughout the celebration.
This combination makes SLS particularly appealing for couples who want kosher dining without sacrificing a lively resort atmosphere. The property offers plenty for guests to enjoy outside of wedding events, while the Liora program gives observant travelers a more structured approach to dining throughout their stay.
For couples who want a modern destination wedding with social energy and an established kosher program, SLS deserves serious consideration.
Kempinski Hotel Cancún
Kempinski Hotel Cancún approaches kosher weddings differently, and its flexibility is one of its biggest strengths.
The property accommodates Jewish wedding celebrations and allows couples to work with rabbis, certified chefs, specialized vendors, and outside kosher catering. For couples with specific culinary requirements or a preferred kosher catering team, that can provide a level of control that an existing resort dining program may not.
Kempinski can also accommodate the broader wedding weekend. Rather than focusing solely on the ceremony and reception, couples can explore arrangements for Shabbat dinner, family gatherings, rehearsal events, the wedding itself, and other celebrations.
This option may be particularly appealing to couples who want to create a highly customized kosher food program instead of working within predetermined resort menus.
Of course, bringing in outside kosher catering creates its own logistical considerations. Food preparation, storage, equipment, service, supervision, setup, and event timing all need to be coordinated carefully. Those details should be established early so everyone understands what the property will provide and what will be handled by the outside culinary team.
For couples who want a luxury Cancun setting combined with greater flexibility over how their kosher wedding weekend is structured, Kempinski offers an approach that is quite different from NIZUC, Casa Nizuc, or SLS.
Hyatt Ziva Cancun
Hyatt Ziva Cancun brings an important family-friendly option into the conversation, particularly for Jewish destination weddings with children and multigenerational guest lists.
Kosher dining has been reported by travelers at Chabad and The Grill, two dining options associated with the resort experience. However, unlike some of the other properties on this list, Hyatt Ziva does not currently provide detailed information about its kosher program on its public website. Because of that, I would confirm the current dining arrangements directly with the resort before making a decision based on kosher availability.
For a destination wedding, I would want to go even further. How frequently are kosher meals available? What certification and supervision are provided? Are kosher options available for breakfast, lunch, and dinner? Can the same culinary arrangements be extended to private wedding events? What options are available for Shabbat?
Those answers become particularly important when several guests will need kosher meals throughout a multi-night stay rather than only during the wedding reception.
Where Hyatt Ziva does have a clear advantage is its family-friendly environment. Couples can host children, parents, grandparents, friends, and extended family at one all-inclusive property with plenty for different generations to enjoy. For a Jewish couple whose guest list makes an adults-only resort impractical, that can make Hyatt Ziva especially appealing.
I would simply make verification of the current kosher program one of the first steps in evaluating the property. For kosher destination weddings, “available” and “available in the way your guests require” are not always the same thing.
Not Every Kosher Resort Experience Is the Same
This is probably the most important distinction couples should understand when comparing these properties.
NIZUC has dedicated kosher kitchens and an established kosher wedding program. Casa Nizuc offers daily kosher dining through its Gourmet Kosher Dining Experience. SLS provides a structured kosher program through Liora, including dining throughout the stay and banquet options. Kempinski gives couples greater flexibility to incorporate specialized outside kosher catering into the wedding weekend. Hyatt Ziva provides a family-friendly alternative where the current kosher arrangements should be verified according to the group’s needs.
Those are very different approaches to accomplishing the same basic goal.
Which one works best depends on what keeping kosher means for your particular group.
Before selecting a resort, determine how many guests will require kosher meals, whether they need those meals throughout the entire stay, what level of certification and rabbinical supervision is required, and whether Shabbat falls within the wedding weekend.
Couples should also consider whether they want the resort to manage most of the kosher culinary experience or whether they prefer the flexibility of bringing in a specialized team.
Once those needs are clear, comparing resorts becomes much easier.
Plan the Entire Jewish Wedding Weekend
One of the reasons couples choose a destination wedding is the opportunity to spend more than a few hours with the people they love. Instead of seeing everyone only during the ceremony and reception, you may have several days together.
For Jewish couples, that can create opportunities to incorporate traditions throughout the weekend in ways that feel natural to the celebration.
Depending on your wedding and level of observance, the weekend might include Shabbat dinner, prayer, family gatherings, the ketubah signing, a ceremony beneath the chuppah, the reception, and a final meal together before guests return home.
The resort needs to support that experience from both a wedding and culinary perspective.
This is why I would never recommend choosing the property first and trying to solve the kosher requirements later. Dining, religious traditions, accommodations, wedding venues, guest experience, and travel logistics should be considered together from the beginning.
At Dynamite Travel, I start by understanding what your Jewish destination wedding needs to include and what kosher observance looks like for your particular group. From there, we can identify the resorts and arrangements capable of supporting those traditions while still creating the destination wedding experience you want.
Your traditions should feel like a natural part of the celebration from the first gathering through the final meal you share together. Contact us today to start planning your Jewish destination wedding.
